The PE program at Cascade Canyon balances instruction in teamwork, coordination and body awareness, and overall fitness. As students progress through PE, K-8, they develop the essential skill of good sportsmanship, the techniques and strategies used to play a range of sports, and the ability to set and achieve personal fitness goals. Cascade Canyon students meet twice a week for PE. Classes are fifty-five minutes each. K-4th Grade PE Program K-4th grade students will enjoy exerting themselves in fast-paced games which require intricate teamwork skills. We work on our hand-eye coordination and our throwing, running and jumping styles. The lower grade students will be timed in the 40-yard dash, half mile run and in a hurdle race every other month. This should be exciting for them and hopefully their times will improve as the year progresses. I’m looking forward to spending a successful year with your children and to pass on my energy and love of fitness to them! Sample games students will play: Dodge Ball La Crosse Multiple Tag Games Soccer Baseball Farmers and Mice 5th-8th Grade PE My primary focus with the upper level students is to work on students’ overall fitness. I’ve come up with a variety of fast paced games that require coordination, balance and teamwork. One week, every other month, will be “fitness week”. The upper grade students will be challenged to do their best in several different areas. Their times and repetitions will be for their own personal viewing. By year’s end, my hopes are that the students enjoy fitness and recreation more than ever and want to pursue a life of health and fitness. Here are a few activities that the upper level students will be participating in: Volleyball Football Basketball Soccer Field Hockey Whiffle Ball 40-yard dash Mile-run Pull-ups, Push-ups, Sit-ups Hurdles |
