Town OK's Safety Improvements

Thanks go out to Jane Knowles, our Safe Route to Schools Coordinator and seventh grade parent, for her persistence in working with the Town of Fairfax to secure safety upgrades at the Sir Francis Drake crossing near Cascade Canyon School and Mitchell Drive. The town's Traffic Safety Committee met on September 2nd, 2009 and voted to move forward with our request. They have agreed to repaint the crosswalk, upgrade curbing and install new signs, both indicating a school crossing. The project should be underway in February 2010. Thank you Kathy Wilkie, Director of Public Works, and Chief of Police Ken Hughes for combining efforts to make sure these important safety improvements happen for our town and our school. This is great news for the growing number of students who are sparing the air by walking and biking to Cascade Canyon School!
